Hersham is a proud community. Let us all take the opportunity to keep it that way, for the benefit of everybody. It needs all of us to be active, vocal and supportive. With this support we will create a better future for everyone in our village.

We felt that we had an open and frank discussion.
Such a change from Hersham’s other recent battles with developers!
Several new members, as well as the usual residents, asked searching questions concerning the detail of the proposed medical facility, as well as voicing concerns about traffic, infrastructure, design, construction timings and the long term maintenance of site.
As well as responding to all questions, Berkeley explained their priorities and what they are required or not required to provide in terms of a planning application. It was apparent that the Berkeley Team appreciated the input direct from residents. They appeared to want to genuinely engage with our group.
Obviously, not everyone agreed with everything that was said, but the opportunity to talk direct with developers was much appreciated. Some of the main points raised include:
1. The need for the doctors’ surgery to be built in the first stage of development, as it is urgently required.
2. Why are the negotiations so slow on the medical facility as all parties involved say they are totally supportive of it.
3. The length of time for the housing to be completed, with associated noise and construction traffic
4. The overflow of parked cars from the development to the surrounding roads
5. Why was the access road opposite Lidl selected rather than the southern one (currently disused)
6. Access from the bypass. Molesey Road chaos if this doesn’t happen.
The official period for comments on this application closes on 21st November. If you have opinions, then please do comment on the Elmbridge website. This is your opportunity to speak up.

Our Newsletter 9 June 2025 made the factual observation that the fabric of The Centre is in visible decline and that 40% of the shop units have become vacant since purchase by the developers.
There is an obvious decline in what was a viable and valuable asset to the community. This is clearly evidenced by the physical deterioration of the fabric of The Centre and 40% of the shop units are now empty since the purchase of the site in May 2021.
