A new community group called the Hersham Community Group (HCG) is being formed through the merger of two longstanding Hersham organisations to better represent and support the Hersham area. This group aims to strengthen local engagement, support on planning and development issues, and enhance community life in preparation for upcoming changes in local government structure.
Formation and purpose of HCG: The Hersham Community Group willstart operating in October 2025, merging the Hersham Village Society andthe Hersham Residents Association to revitalise community involvementand provide a stronger voice for Hersham residents and workers

.Response to local government changes: With the replacement ofElmbridge Borough by a larger council, the group seeks to ensure Hershamhas a strong voice and to increase local events and community cohesion.

Support and campaigns: HCG plans to work on planning issues related tohousing developments such as the Hersham Golf Club and Air Productssites, pressing for necessary infrastructure improvements like a largerdoctor’s surgery, and supporting the sustainability of the Hersham GreenShopping Centre and community services.

Community involvement and events: Residents are encouraged to join,volunteer, and attend the inaugural meeting on October 3, 2025, Hersham Baptist Churchat 7.30 pm to help organize activities and shape thegroup’s efforts to foster a friendly and active community.
